HIST312 - History of Japan

This class to include the first human inhabitants of the Japanese Archipelago, the various periods that followed which included Kofun, Asuka, Nara, Heian and all the way to Feudal Japan (1185 to 1600). This would be followed by Early Modern Japan (1600 to 1868). Then Modern Japan from this period to 1912. After this period we would cover Imperial Japan, invasion of Asia, and WWII.

In this class we will explore the period between 1660 and 1815 which includes the period of enlightenment. the French Revolution and Napoleonic years. We will explore the following topics: Why did the French Revolution begin? When did it end? How did the final rupture with the "ancient regime" occur? The Reign of Terror. The life of Napoleon Bonaparte and his ascension to power.

HIST102 - Introduction to Ancient Roman & Ottoman Empire (G3-G4)

Join Mr. Julio Scull in learning about two civilizations that greatly influenced the world. Ancient Rome and the Ottoman Empire. The class on Rome will focus on the periods known as Ancient Rome, the Roman Republic and the Roman Empire. This class will focus on Rome's birth, development, military campaigns noted rulers, architecture, the arts and contribution to the Western world. These periods cover from 753 BCE to 476 CE. The class on the Ottoman Empire will dive deeply into its rise, expansion and eventual demise. It will look into its most notable leaders, military victories, defeats, law structure, economy and social development. It will also touch on contributions in the arts, medicine, architecture, religion and education. The class will cover the period between 1299- 1922. The class will also briefly discuss the Byzantine Empire as the antecedent to the birth of the Ottomans.
