CS308 - Basics of Web Development
In this course, students will gain a basic understanding of HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript ES6 through visualized discussions, demonstrations, and hands-on coding. We will first discuss how all 3 languages work together in a website and how they interact as separate files. Then, we’ll move into learning the basics of each language, starting with syntax and then doing hands-on practice with recreating webpage elements. Throughout this, we will demonstrate how tools such as ChatGPT can generate raw code, then learn to read/understand prewritten code and add our own elements to it. We’ll spend a week briefly introducing APIs and showing the exciting possibilities for collaboration that web development offers. Finally, students will contribute to The Cloud Classroom’s website / leave the class with code for a personalized webpage.
CS307 - Algorithm with Java
Welcome to the captivating realm of computer algorithms! In this course, we will embark on an exploratory journey into the fundamental principles of algorithms and their profound impact on our digital landscape. Our primary medium for comprehending and implementing algorithms will be the esteemed programming language, Java. Through a combination of interactive discussions, practical coding exercises, and engaging activities, we will equip you with the knowledge and skills necessary to design, analyze, and implement algorithms proficiently.
SCI403 - Introduction to Fundamentalsin Science
This class to include the first human inhabitants of the Japanese Archipelago, the various periods that followed which included Kofun, Asuka, Nara, Heian and all the way to Feudal Japan (1185 to 1600). This would be followed by Early Modern Japan (1600 to 1868). Then Modern Japan from this period to 1912. After this period we would cover Imperial Japan, invasion of Asia, and WWII.

HIST311 - History of Art
Understanding art helps us to understand history, culture and societal changes. In this class we will cover art from its very beginning as portrayed in prehistoric cave drawings of animals and the hunt for food. We will also cover Eastern and Western Antiquity, Egyptian art, Indus Valley art, Chinese art, Greek and Roman art, Medieval period, Gothic,Renaissance, Neoclassic, Romanticism, Realism, Impressionism, Post-Impressionism, Early 20th century, Art Nouveau, Cubism, Surrealism and Contemporary art. We will see examples of art and briefly discuss major artists that led each individual movement.
WRT408 - Poem Writing
How to compose poetry? We will have a 10 class course covering the main types of poems: Haiku, free verse, sonnet, acrostic, villanelle, ode, limerick, elegy and ballad. The students would learn stanzas, couplets, tercets, quatrains, sestets and meters. You would be expected to create short poems in any of the types described above. And one long poem in free verse.
LA416 - Harry Potter Book 3 && 4 (G3-G9)

This class will cover the book's historical background, high-level character and plot analysis, vocabulary, writing styles, and literary techniques employed by the author.
CS401 - Introduction to Java for Kenya (G6-G9)
Introduction to Java: this course will introduce students to basic coding concepts, using one of the most popular, easy to use object oriented languages. The course will be taught in eight 90 minute sessions, one each week. The class will take place on Zoom, and the only thing the student needs is a computer connected to the internet. No prior knowledge of programming or Java is required for this course. The course will be easy to understand, using analogies. Each lesson will have a portion where technical terms are introduced. It is recommended to take notes of the definitions. There will also be various in class assignments, questions, and exercises to help students develop understanding. About an hour of homework will be given each class. There will also be optional resources provided each lesson for those students that want to pursue the subject further.

We will start with the basics, HTML, and CSS, then we will talk about JavaScript to make our site more interactive, then we are going to talk about backend using Python with SQL. Students will also get experience by using cloud technology, such as GitHub and Heroku and frameworks such as Flask, Django, Bootstrap, and Sass. Students will also have the opportunity to create different projects, such as URL Shortener, Live Chatting app, and more.
CS305 - Introduction to Python for Kenya (G4-G8)
Hello, world! Welcome to Introduction to Python Programming. Throughout this course, you will learn basic to advanced Python Programming, from basic variables to learning decorators. You will also have the opportunity to build different projects using Python. In the end, you will have the opportunity to build your own project, whether it’s a simple CLI, website, or game. This introductory programming course in Python is [not?] suitable for students without prior programming experience.
WRT405 - Writing Workshop China Class (G6-G9)
Students will interact with the Story Jumper website by creating an account and writing stories for later publication. Students will choose the genre and topic they wish. The instructor will help them with proper grammar, syntax, narrative structure and vocabulary. There is a small cost for publishing your work. It will be up to the student to pay for this service directly to story jumper. It is a very small cost for which the students will receive their work printed in book form to keep. Please note that paying for this service is optional. Usage of the app is free.

The class is meant to give the students a view at the work script writers or playwrights do. The instructions students will receive and the assignments they will complete are intended to allow participants to evaluate a potential career paths in these two fields.

Hola, my name is Andrea but my students and friends call me Andi. Yes, it can be used for girls, too. Did you know that Spanish is a global language with nearly 500 million native speakers, mainly in Spain and the Americas? It is the world's second most spoken native language. It is not only beautiful but also very useful to learn! As a certified teacher, I lived in Shanghai between 2010 and 2019, working at international and local schools, preparing Chinese students for various exams, including GcSE Spanish. Many students are just starting to learn Spanish, so no worries if you’re a total beginner! For over 20 years, I’ve taught students at all kinds of levels, from kindergarten to university at various schools in the UK, Hungary, China and Spain. I’ve always had a passion for teaching and I love to share ideas about different cultures. The exercises focus on pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar, while the class discussions encourage oral fluency and creative thinking. The French Revolution of 1789 was a momentous turning point not only for France but perhaps for the world. In this class we will explore the period between 1660 and 1815 which includes the period of enlightenment. the French Revolution and Napoleonic years. WRT403 - Creative Writing ( G6-G9 )
Throughout this course, you will learn basic to advanced Python Programming, from basic variables to learning decorators. You will also have the opportunity to build different projects using Python. The creative writing workshop starting in August is designed as a continuation of the Summer 2021 class. In this workshop, the students will continue to write fiction short stories but will learn how to construct non-fiction articles,essays and poetry. As always, the classes will be comprised of a short lecture,student writing based on prompts provided by the instructor and critique.During each workshop, the following concepts will be covered:• Effective title creation• How to write an effective and alluring hook.• Character development• Plot development• Proper usage of the thesaurus• Vocabulary improvement techniques• How to create a compelling narrative• How to create poetry• Usage of literary devices• Syntax improvement• Effective techniques for researching• Knowing your audience• Fiction and nonfiction writing Students will be required to write at least one short story, article or poem every week. Workshop participants will have one week to turn in their work for the instructor to correct and critique. This workshop will concentrate more on writing than lecturing, therefore, students must be prepared to participate in class by putting their thought and ideas in a written format.

History Camp - Explore Ancient Egypt & Greece (G5 - G12)
Join Mr. Julio Scull for history winter camp in learning about two ancient civili. zations that greatly influenced the world. Ancient Egypt and ancient Greece The class will focus on the birth of each civilization, their development,advanc es and how they shaped Western thought. The class will cover from Egypt's Early Dynastic period in 3150 BC to the end of the Greco-Roman Egyptian peri od in 629 AD. lt will also cover Greek history from 12th century BC to the end of antiquity in 600 AD.
Literary Analysis Seminar (G6-G9)
This course consists of structured fiction, poetry, and nonfiction units! Fiction units: students to read short stories, gain exposure to the essential in-story plot elements, and learn to annotate Poetry units: students to read one long poem and apply their knowledge of literary elements to analyze it. Nonfiction units: students to read, understand, and analyze argumentative and informative works with instructor's guidance. Note: All readings incorporated into the curriculum are AP-level material and will each be given a high-level analysis, the depth of which will depend on students' performance and concept absorption. The instructor may assign homework.

Close Reading Session 1 Hamlet (G4-G9)
This course is a literature seminar focusing on the close reading and analysis of William Shakespeare's Hamlet. Students will read the play and have small Socratic Seminars on the material, as well as cross analyzing with other works of art and literature. This course is well-suited for 6th through 9th graders interested in building their literary analysis skills.
